During the COVID lockdown, we were forced to stop our creative process as it had been unfolding up to that point. We had to retreat, to find new ways and mediums to keep nurturing this work—fragile yet powerful and full of potential. From this research, an unexpected, diverse, and rich body of material emerged. We decided to filter and reclaim it in order to bring it to the public in the form of a performative lecture, thus giving rise to Anexo a Mi Bandera.
This work emerged during the lockdown period in Spain (March–June 2020) as a result of the state of emergency caused by COVID-19. As in-person rehearsals were not possible, weekly online meetings were held. Through various tools of stage research—such as atmosphere creation, analysis of inspirational references, open debates, and idea sharing—a large volume of material was generated around the theme(s) of Mi Bandera. Since not all of this could be included in the main piece, it was instead developed into a separate performative lecture. Its aim is to share with the audience the questions and paths taken by the research during lockdown, centered on the concept of “flag,” stripped of any ideological, political, or social connotation.
