Body Disarticulation Workshop

Seminario de Desarticulación Corporal

This workshop focuses on developing expressive movement through creativity. In order to discover the beauty of deformity within each participant, we will constantly dialogue through movement and spoken word. Tools such as repetition and body disarticulation will be used to abandon rational control in pursuit of instinct. A body that is “incorrectly true,” distilling life through every pore.

Workshop Methodology: "The Beauty in Deformity"

Since 2015, this methodology has been developed through intensive workshops centered on bodywork and creativity. The approach promotes a shared experience among participants, with a flexible structure that adapts to their evolving needs throughout each session.

Educational Resources

Música: Used as a primary tool to deconstruct movement and foster a more instinctual exploration of the body.

Texto: Excerpts are sent prior to the workshop for participants to learn, aiming to integrate voice and body as equally important expressive tools.

Methodology

Rooted in Physical Theatre, the workshop incorporates elements of contemporary dance, Butoh, African dance, and techniques such as Gaga, Popping, and vocal work. It encourages greater physical flexibility and exploration of natural, organic movement without relying on choreographic repetition. Individual and collective creativity is essential, with improvisation and play as key tools.

Objectives

Stimulate creativity through body and text.

Foster individual and group listening through sound stimuli.

Eliminate bias and tension, cultivating an inclusive and diverse environment.

Develop full-body expression, with emphasis on often-neglected areas of the body.
